Considering how expensive things are today, I was thinking we should put a dollar limit to our pollyannas instead of a dollar minimum. Let's face it, as we get older the whole present-thing really doesn't matter, at least to me. Sure it's fun, it's a good way to spread some holiday cheer, but in the end is it really worth fifty bucks? I know, it's the thought that counts, which is why a limit would be more conducive to the idea.
If we were to forget about the dollar minimum and focus on the idea of the gift, I think it would be more fun. Perhaps include themes every year to the type of gift, like; items found at a grocery store, or products made in Honduras only, or literature, or things not found in stores, or ebay items, or liquor, or items of the 80s, or 'as seen on TV' products.
The limit could be no more than $50.00. I think this would relieve some of the buying stress and the 'obligation factor.'
Another idea would be a family lottery along with the pollyanna. Anyone who wants to be in the lottery contributes $20. Names are put into a hat, the winner takes all. Cha-ching!

this is precisely why i opted out of polyana this year....mrs brogger and i just don't really want anything....things are tight and i think it would be more fun as you suggested.....i mean when xmas eve rolls around i'm looking forward to seeing allyouse guys, drinking it up, eating some nice food stupfs and sneaking a smoke....that's all
I Like It!! I think we should do it this year. It's not too late. Especially the lottery. We should definitely do that - maybe we can start with $10 a person. Josh, you pick the theme.
Cool.
This year's theme is...'As Seen on TV' items. I think there is a ASOTV store in the king of prussia mall, or you can call Billy Zane and purchase one of his fine products today! The call is free, so what are you waiting for.
As far as the lottery...10 bucks is a good start. To make the drawing interesting, names are entered in triplicates, kids can participate as long as they use their OWN money,(no parent can fund their child for the sake of increasing their chances). Someone then proceeds to pull names out of the hat. The first person who's name is drawn three times wins! Cha-ching! Dollar-dollar-bill-y'all!
just don't get me the tap chopper
Hey, Billy Zane now pushes HEALTH CARE on his info-mercials!
Great gift idea for Judah!
Bubbles, the Sham-Wow is a qualifying gift.
